ALBUM REVIEW 43
GENRE: Progressive Metal
LENGTH: 36 minutes
FAVOURITE SONGS: Orbital, Smile
COMMENTS: The British band TesseracT is back with their fourth full-length, an album that divided the opinions of the fans and of the listeners.
The first thing that you'll notice, if you're a TesseracT fan, is that they opted for a more progressive and ambient sound, leaving the djent influences that characterised the previous albums behind.
Actually they didn't forget at all of their old sound, that can be found in tracks such as King, Juno and Beneath My Skin/Mirror Image, but in songs like "Orbital", "Smile" and "The Arrow" you'll find a different attitude of TesseracT, that looked for atmospheres more than technical riffs and rhythmics. And that's, in my opinion, the best part of the album, that makes it TO ME one of the best TesseracT albums. Obviously it only depends on what you're looking for, if you like complex and technical rhythmics and sounds you should go check their previous works, but if you're looking for a strange trip that will bring you from melodic and emotional keyboard parts to Daniel Tompinks screams, that's your album.
Talking about Daniel, he did an amazing job and his vocal parts match perfectly with the sound of the whole album.
I know that some fans were unsatisfied because of the length of the album (36 minutes) but in my opinion the number of the tracks is perfect, as more songs would have probably made this album too repetitive and forced.
To finish, this is not an album to listen if you're looking for amazing musical techniques, but close your eyes and have a good trip!
