▪️Title: We Are Okay
▪️Author: Nina LaCour
▪️Genre: Realistic Fiction, Young Adult, LGBT+
▪️Setting/Era: New York, Modern Day
▪️Why I Chose It: I’ve heard great reviews about it and my friend needed to read it for her class, so I thought I would read it too!
▪️Summary: Marin is heartbroken, lonely and lost. She left her home after the death of her Grandfather with nothing but her cellphone, wallet and photo of her mother. Now she is forced to face a past she ran from when her best friend, Mable, visits and stirs up old confused emotions, and concepts of love and loneliness become jumbled once again. ▪️My Rating: 4/10, I had heard really good and hopeful things about this book, but it was very realistic. Normally that would be a good thing, but I like to read to escape and there was just an overwhelming reality about this that made me depressed rather than able to escape in a new world.
▪️Movie Version?: No
▪️Emoji Summary (just for fun!): 👱🏻♀️👴🏻📝🏄🏼♀️🌊✈️🌃📱🚍🏢👩🏽❄️🍜☕️🔔🧔🏻🕯👩❤️💋👩💔🛫😭🚖👩🏽🎨👨🏽🎄
