My work ain’t really work... It is truly the most fun and fulfilling experience being a to see my students ages 6-60, beg/adv, hip hop / jazz funk, from @beverlyhillsballroom, @showoffdance, @showoffdancecheer, my school teams, and so on... My students bring such a work ethic to my classes that constantly leaves me inspired. 😍💪🏾 Listen, not every step in these videos is perfect (and they don’t have to be to post it), and not all students who take my classes come with several years prior training. You’ve got to start somewhere, right?
I feel like in the “dance class” social media video trend, we lose the reality of what many dance classes really look like. We see the polished picture but not the journey that is actual progression through class taking. And for most dancers, let me tell you, IT IS NOT A FAST progression either. It takes time, strong effort and consistency. Due to seeing perfect class execution in videos, I think people get discouraged way too easily. Always remember that there is a difference between class and performance and to never compare where you’re at to where someone else is. The journey is just as beautiful and meaningful as the destination (your goal). After teaching steadily, 5-7 days a week now for more than a decade straight (ALL AGES, LEVELS & VARIOUS STYLES), I can confidently say that I can teach ANYONE how to improve their ability to dance and perform no matter the age, experience level, language they speak, background, learning disability or other. I don’t shy away from beginners either. You don’t need to show up to my class camera ready. I will get you there!! And seeing my students who have studied from me consistently for years is testament to that and proof of the caliber of dancers I have trained and mentored from scratch. I am many dancer’s first ever teacher and wow, what a privilege that is ☺️. As I witness everyone in my classes getting better, growing and improving physically and mentally, I feel myself doing the same as an instructor. Thank you ALL for making me a better teacher with each 8 count. Love you all! You always have my support. #coachebonee #dancing #inspire #showoffdance #westla #eboneearielle #dancers #rollyrolly #swipe #teacher #dance #coach #citycharterschool #motivation #beverlyhills #showoffdancecheer #beverlyhillsballroom #sodc #danceteacher #danceclass #rolliechallenge #rolly
