Late post for you all and one of my favorite pieces. I called this one “Haleakala Gathering” and has originally intended to weld every piece together into one but found that two modular pieces allowed for multiple ways to display the finished piece. Species included from the left are an endemic Haleakala Geranium, ākala (a native raspberry), huluhulumoa (Hawaiian mistletoe), multiple different varieties of ‘Ōhi’a liko (liko are the new leaf buds of the ‘Ōhi’a), uluhe fern fiddlehead, Haleakala sandalwood and Koa.
These are all plants found on the leeward flank of Haleakala here on Maui and can all be seen easily here by going to Haleakala National Park! This piece was purchased by one of my awesome collectors after being featured in a local art show. #boroflora #glass #nativehawaiianflora #noleafpress #flameworking #nativehawaiianplants #lampworking #borosilicate #glassofig #throwbackthursday #headyart
