Hello + Welcome
✨This place was created just for me, and maybe you too. A place to set down work for a minute, the expectations of others and the demands of everyday life. Pause for a moment, friend, make time for your breath. I'll wait.
For years, my work had become a reflection of my past hurts rather than a gift flowing from a place of wholeness and health. Burn out eventually caught up with me and I learned to stop striving and slow down the hustle. On sabbatical at the Abbey of Gethsemani, the monks showed me that rituals like contemplative prayer, shared meals and physical work create a pathway to the freedom I had been so desperately searching to find.
If you are like me, you may have gotten lost in the shuffle after diving head first into the needs of your community. I thought that if I slowed down the work would be undone, all that had been gained, lost. I now know that rest and renewal is a necessary part of the task.
This space is for those of us who know deep in our soul that we are needed to do significant work, but need help creating enough space in our lives to leave room for grace. It's there that we gain enough wisdom to share the best of ourselves in the right places, with the right people, at the right time and doing the work meant just for us.
I'm hopeful that at the end of my life I'll look back with gratitude for having prioritized the things that matter most to me: health, family, doing good. Sharing life with other people committed to social justice, like you, help me check back in with the everyday and my life long goals.
This search for wisdom has me leaning into my physical, spiritual and mental well being from a more holistic vantage point. I've learned there's no quick fix because it's a lifelong journey. Meaningful community life depends on people like you and me doing this challenging inner work, together, as we go along. This work is what prepares us for what comes next.
We hope you will consider joining us for the 2019 Space + Grace #space #grace #yogachapel #spaceandgrace #holisticliving #contemplativeprayer #retreat #socialjustice
