    Technique Tuesday -- After the recent posts on some squat variations, we shall now be moving on. Today we are looking at a hip thrust -- First thing to sort out on a hip thrust is height of implement. Hip thrusts can be done using a bench, plyo box. Really anything stable, that you can place your upper back on. The height of this is going to depend on a few things; flexibility at quads and hips, height of the individual and personal preference -- Once the height has been sorted, you must get set up correctly. Place your upper back on the box, with the point of contact being just below the shoulder blades -- The bar should be placed in the hip crease, preferably with some form of padding i.e matt, airex pad etc. Ensure the bar is centred to your body and hands placed evenly on each side -- Once bar is in position, you will then sort out foot position. Feet will be placed near the glutes with heels pressed into the floor. Toes will be pointed forward -- Now to begin the lift. Firstly you will take a deep breath in and brace your core. Then drive the weight directly upwards, pushing through the heels. At the top of the movement there should be a straight line from your shoulders to your knees. This will ensure your back is in a neutral position -- Lower the weight back to the floor with control. Then repeat for the desired number of reps -- The main point to focus on with this exercise is that the feeling is in the glutes. This should not be primarily felt in the lower back or hamstrings. If this is the case then lower the weight, go for more controlled reps following the above protocol until this is felt in the right #hipthrust #gym #workout #strengthandconditioning #fitness #glutes #training

    hip thrusts . Change up your routine keep those guessing and vary your routine between heavier lower reps and lighter more reps. Try super setting this with your routine. Sitting back on your heels keeping your back flat and leaning forward slightly... Then explode forward with your glutes pushing those hips forward at the end of the range, hold for 2 count squeezing the glutes then repeat as many times as you can. If you wanna make it more interesting add a resistance band just above your knees.
