[Battle of the Toners: Clinique Clarifying Lotion 2 vs Origins Mega-Mushroom Skin Relief]
Since 2012, I've switched my skincare routine to consist of Asian brands and since then haven't been using many Western brands for skincare. Makeup yes, but not so much for my skin. While reading a listicle one day, the Clinique clarifying toner was listed as one of the most popular HG products that has stood the test of time. I even remember my mum using it for quite some time years ago. I saw that the huge bottle was on sale during Black Friday and decided to purchase it and see if it really is that "wow" and will be able to give me clear, pore-free skin as many reviews had raved about.
I suppose that this would serve as a lesson to myself to always get a trial pack first before investing in something so full-sized. The first thing that really got to me was the SMELL. Omg, when I first opened it I literally thought I had accidentally been sent a bottle of nail polish remover instead. It was such an acrid stench that I had to hold my breath while applying this. It was very cooling on skin when applied which was nice and refreshing, but it did sting. But it made my skin feel really dried out as well. I found that it was just way to harsh and I started getting dry patches and then a breakout. My skin became really dull and uneven, with plenty of under skin bumps, so after 3 weeks of seeing no progress, I decided to stop.
I was given the Origins toner as a Christmas gift so I thought that after the Clinique one, this might help repair the damages and indeed it did. Slowly, but surely. Unlike the Clinique one, it has a more earthy scent and does not sting upon application. Both have a watery consistency but this one felt a lot more gentler. My skin always feels moisturised after using this and over time, it has gotten rid of redness, made my skin tone a lot more even and seems to be helping with minimising the appearance of my pores. My skin feels a lot healthier and because of how gentle it is, I don't mind using it multiple times a day or at a time (i.e. Before a wash of mask and then after cleansing). Rating: Clinique 0/10, Origins 8/10. #beautygram #productreview #beauty #igers #skincare #cosme #igersdaily #cosmetic #instabeauty #origins #clarifyingtoner #drweil #beautyreview #megamushroom #clinique
