If you’re a mom, you’ve probably discovered that there will always be things left on your to-do list, but you won’t always have these fleeting moments with your kids. Your baby won’t always want to fall asleep curled up on your shoulder. Your son won’t always wrap his little hands around your legs and beg, “Up mommy?” And your daughter won’t always lean her head against your shoulder as you read her a story. So if scheduling a photo session to capture these details has been on your to-do list, let me help you make that happen this spring. I’ve decided to open up one spring mini session date (in the hope that spring will in fact show up one of these day!). And each session includes one matted 8x10 fine art print, because chances are that printing and hanging your photos has also been on your to-do list 😉. You can find all the details in the link in my profile!

Tonight I let Ethan run around our porch pants-less. As he jumped and threw things around, I commented to my husband, “I love him, but he is super challenging.” As if on cue, Ethan paused, pointed his stick at me, and yelled, “No! YOU’RE super challenging!” And then he went right back to jumping and throwing. Welcome to my life lately 😳. (If you ever feel anxious about how your child might act at a photo session, just remember this and rest assured that your child’s behavior won’t shock me!) In the midst of this challenging stage, though, I’m trying to create intentional moments of connection and quality time with him to balance out all that toddler fierceness. . . . What are your favorite ways to connect with your young kids?

“There are short-cuts to happiness, and dancing is one of them.” - Vicki Baum . . . I may be one of the world’s most awkward dancers, but there is something freeing about letting loose and dancing anyway. How about you? Do you consider yourself a dancer?

I kind of have a love/hate relationship with social media (can anyone relate?). I hate the way it often draws my attention and distracts me from the things that really matter. And I hate the way it invites me down that slippery slope of comparison. But yet, I love the inspiration and connections I find on social media, too. And I love how sometimes what begins as an interaction in the virtual world can cross over into a real life friendship. @laurengripkaphotography is one of those friends. We initially “met” in a Facebook group for photographers. I was so excited when I discovered that she lived nearby and even more excited when she agreed to swap family sessions this past fall so we could meet in real life. And she turned out to be every bit as sweet and down to earth in person as she was online. . . . How do you find balance with social media? What have you found to be the saving graces of this platform?
