6. I wasn’t going to post anything today, but I couldn’t let the International Day of Forests pass by without talking about Mangrove Forests. These forests have huge ecological roles to play: they sequester more CO2 than regular forests; serve as habitat and nursing grounds for fish, birds, shellfish and even young corals; define the coastline, etc. .
Yet mangroves suffer a lot from man made activities (like tourism and fishing) and climate change, with 35% of mangrove forests lost in the past two decades.
