So, before I took off to Colombia, people thought I was crazy. They thought that I was on my way to being robbed, kidnapped, and sold in four thousand pieces. This negative stigma attached made me want to go all the more, so I can defy it and see the true colours of this country. There is an assumption that Colombia is unwelcoming, dangerous and unsafe and that if you're going there, you're really asking for trouble. However, this country's breathtaking beauty, stunning scenery, delicious food, amazing artwork and kindhearted people are often overlooked.
Forget anything and everything you think you've learned about Colombia, Bogota or Medellin through Netflix and Narcos. These cities and this country has transformed tremendously, especially Medellin. You'd never think of it to be dangerous. The locals go out of their way to help you and make sure you are okay. I'd stay here longer if I my job allowed.
