    🖥 WHAT CAUSES NECK PAIN AT WORK?? - by @drhawk.rehab . 😣So its been a long Monday at work, a lot of us have been catching up on paperwork. Your neck starts to get tense and sore. Let’s be honest, the Christmas Parties this weekend didn’t help 😅 . ❓Why does this happen? After long periods of activity, muscles start to lose their endurance, having to work harder to support the task demanded. Pain receptors in the joints and muscle fibres start to fire, giving off discomfort. . 💠So what’s the cure? 🔄Movement and variety of posture…movement acts as a distractor to the pain receptors in your tissues. Below are some of the top muscles that get tired > then tight during your work day . 🔵Trapezius - huge muscle attaching from C7-T12 vertebra, to the occiput, even to the shoulder blade . 🔵Levator Scapulae - attaches from C1-C4 to upper border of shoulder blade . 🔵Scalenes - attaches from vertebra of C2-C7 to the 1st and 2nd ribs . 🔵Splenius Capitis - attaches from C7-T3 vertebra to the mastoid (skull) . 🏅Honorable Mention: SCM, Supraspinatus, Suboccipitals .     This is an excellent chart to help you understand Healing Times for various injuries 🤓🏋🏽‍♂️ - One of the main questions I get asked is will I feel “Fixed” after 1 session. The answer is quite simply NO 🙈 - The body has to undergo a natural healing process and although this takes time, the benefit of having regular Physical Therapy, is to ensure that the process is pushed along as quick as possible. So that the Patient/Client does not have to miss events such as days off from work, hobbies and even home activities etc 👷🏼‍♂️🏌🏽‍♂️🏠 - It is important to remember that Pain is a Symptom not the Cause, there has normally been an underlying issue for quite some time.     Ughhhhhh! I'm posting this while plopped down on a heating pad. My back - she is angry!!!! The video above shows the origin issue, which has actually become less severe over the last few months (through a lot of work on the part of both me and my PT).     @optimize.physiotherapy with @instatoolsapp ・・・ Control your rotation ✔️ ➡️ This is a nice ground based movement challenge for rotational control. Control through these positions requires the use of your core and oblique slings to prevent unwanted rotation. It also tests shoulder mechanics and mobility. 🔑 Get into a bear position and lift opposite arm/leg up, so you have 2 points of contact only. 🔑 Maintain ONLY these 2 points of contact throughout the entire movement. 🔑 Make your way to a crab position, not touching down with the other arm or leg.     Knee update: Someone asked me today, ‘how do you do it mentally?’ My answer, ‘lots of constant work on myself and my mindset.’ So to be transparent, today is a day that I really need to work on that. Some days are just crappy, there’s so sugar coating it. My knee hurts. It’s affecting my mood and the rest of my body. It affected my PT session today. The positive: the last goal I set was to be able to go up and down stairs, and I CAN DO THAT NOW! The other goal, to get full extension of my knee, has not been met yet, though I’ve been working on it religiously...and affected my clearance to go back to work. Recovery can be super frickin frustrating. This video was from Friday’s PT session, and it gave me a good laugh, so I thought it might make you giggle too. Laugh with me, not at me! Working on proprioception and coordination can really make you feel like Bambi on ice. 😂 I heard a great quote at my R+F event this weekend that’s resonating loudly today: ‘EASE IS A GREATER THREAT TO PROGRESS THAN HARDSHIP.’ Tomorrow is a new #aclwarrior #physicaltherapy #progress #aclrevision #meniscaltransplant #mindset
