ugh but I’m too busy.
I just reaaaally don’t have the time.
School is crazy.
Work keeps me loaded.
I just don’t have time for God’s word.
You “just don’t have time” for one of the biggest priorities we should have as Christians?!?! WHAT?
I make it a point to be real with y’all, so here’s my experience: I’ve always struggled in this field of Christianity.
Up until about 2 months ago, I honestly “fought” God with this(not really, I just couldn’t seem to give it up to Him). Sometimes our sin nature gets the best of us. For some reason I honestly could not start reading my Bible every day. It got to a point where I would think about it a lot of times, and get saddened because every time I’ve started to be faithful in reading the Word, I’d always quit. Apparently the Devil really likes to fight me on this.
We get caught up and consumed with other things that we make priorities. Tv shows, social media, friends, family, work, school, etc., all can be things we tend to put in place of His time. None of which are bad things necessarily, but NOTHING should be placed before God, and your time with Him.
This isn’t just reading your Bible, it’s meditating on it. It’s letting your heart be open and willing to let Him speak to you on a daily basis.
Ultimately, this is what made me decide that I would try my absolute hardest to meet with him every day: The fact that God gave/gives EVERYTHING for us. His son, His mercy, His protection, His unending love, and so much more. Don’t you think we could give Him some time? Even just 15 minutes our of our 24 hour day. Would that but so difficult?
If you have time for Instagram, you have time for Him. If you have time to hang out with friends, you have time for Him.
Make the choice today to faithfully read His word. DO NOT wait till “next week” or “The start of a new month”. I’ve said so many times in my life that I would start doing things “next(blank)”, but the fact is that in a lot of cases, if you don’t do it today, you probably won’t do it next week.
Commit that aspect of your life to the One who gave you everything.
