Friday morning our DegustoClub group felt a little spontaneous and we decided to book a table at this restaurant for 4 people (two gentlemen & 2 ladies). Usually, same-day booking becomes a problem in a large city like Toronto, but we were lucky to place our reservation for 7pm. We arrived fashionably late for 15 minutes, however we were warmly welcomed by a polite and elegant administrator who gave us a cozy corner table.
Our guests were pleasantly surprised by diverse wine collection. However the food menu selection consisted of a one page.
First, we ordered a dozen of fresh oysters accompanied by soft Pinot Grigio. The oysters were good enough but not the best we had in the 6ix.
As an appetizer we had sea scallops (23$), heirloom tomato with burrata cheese & arrugula (24) and seared foie gras with maple apples (25$). All dishes had been served In a beautiful high-class arrangement and were delicious. Above all, we all noted that foie gras exceeded our most ambitious expectations and could satisfy even the most capricious gourmet at our company! Apart from that, we noticed that the bread was made in-house, had some spicy notes and was very tasty.
As the main course, all of us ordered a famous striploin on roasted garlic and asparagus with bone marrow jus (45$) accompanied by the bottle of Californian Cabernet Sauvignon Stags Leap (119$). However, we all realized that these steaks were nothing but average in terms of taste and quality. Thus, we were frustrated and outraged by its price. The side - saute of mushrooms with white wine and chive butter (12$) was also not as good as expected.
For desert we had Chocolate soft cake and Chocolate truffle torte, both for 10.50$. If you were to choose between these two, the torte was truly amazing and we highly recommend it for all those who have sweet tooth. Allergy alert: it is served with white chocolate ice-cream that has (!) peanuts. #torontofoodphoto #degustorest #torontobars #foodgasm #junkfood #torontofoodscene #foodporn #canada #torontorestaurants #instafood #foodstagram #toronto #seafood #foodpics #torontolunch #torontofood #torontofoodie #foodie #luxury #steakhouses #veganfoodshare #torontofoodblog
