Om Devi Kushmandayai Namah 🙏🏼
Today, the fourth day of Navatri, we honor the divine Goddess Kushmanda. Goddess of the Sun, her smile is said to awaken the light in the entire universe. According to Hindu mythology it is said that before her existence the universe was comprised of nothing but darkness; no stars, no planets, nothing. Maa Kushmanda created a cosmic egg with her smile, giving light to the universe. As we enter this fourth day of Divine Goddess celebration, we honor not only the sun and the divine light that it exudes, but also the creation of the three core forms of the Goddess. It is said that Kushmanda created Mahakali with a glance of her left eye, Mahalakshmi with her third eye, and Mahasaraswati with the gaze of her right eye. As opposed to traditional Christian beliefs of Eve being born of the rib of Adam, in Hindu mythology it is believed that the forms of Shiva, Brahma and Vishnu (the destroyer, creater and preserver, respectively) were born of the bodies of the three Divine Goddesses. Shiva from his consort Shakti (Mahakali), Brahma from Saraswati, and Vishnu from Lakshmi. .
It is believed then that Shiva and Shakti together created the universe as we know it - through the dance of the divine feminine and the divine masculine coming together. After much time the three forms Shakti, Lakshmi and Saraswati joined together into the one divine goddess, Chandi. 🙏🏼
Happy Chandi Navatri
Kushmanda is represented by the Anahata (heart) chakra. May you meditate today and always on the divine light that exists within each of our hearts - the life force of divine love that sustains us all as one unified species. When our hearts open to divine love, our universal love of everything in existence can guide us to clarity, peace, prosperity and ultimate grace. .
