    Let’s talk push ups - as a trainer and a volleyball coach, I can’t even keep count of how many push ups I see in a year (it’s a lot). I also can’t keep track of how many times I see them done incorrectly (it’s most of them). By far the biggest thing that makes me cringe when I see our athletes doing push ups is the flared elbows 😫 Flaring the elbows out to 80-90 degree range sets that all-important shoulder joint up for both acute and chronic injuries (not something that helps volleyball players). • The good news? Anyone can fix their push ups! BUT - it takes time. It’s an exercise that is often thought of as “beginner”, when in reality it is far from it! If you are a beginner, start with correct form at a higher incline and work your way down to the floor. • Things to focus on: 💪🏼 hands right outside your body, slightly below the shoulders 💪🏼 keep your ankles, knees, hips, shoulders & head in line 💪🏼 elbows coming back at no greater than a 40-45 degree angle (optimal is really about 20-30 degrees = goal). 💪🏼 work with different lifts to strengthen your push ups.     A little different kind of but oh how my pregnancies have been SO different. The major difference? My mindset. With Harper, my number 1 goal was to feel comfortable and confident in my own skin- which I must have because I was rocking a bikini at 9 mos pregnant! 😱 (wouldn’t dare do that today) but really.. that caused me to force every little (or should I say big?) workout, be perfect on my nutrition, and worry if I wasn’t 💯 on both accounts. I focused so much on the things that were changing instead of what was still the same. I fixated on what I had to give up. THIS TIME THOUGH 🙌🏻 my major goal was to resume life as normal (what other choice do I have? I want kids!). That led me to completing 2 half marathons (8 weeks and 20 weeks both of which I was already registered for long before finding out I was pregnant), enjoying girls nights out with tasty “mock tails”, focusing on connecting with the hubs through conversation and communication, not pushing myself or comparing my workouts but instead truly listening to my body and ensuring that I’m doing only as much as what makes my body feel good (4 stroller miles + back and bi today with @cassie.m.smith ) vacationing and enjoying it through different lens (aka sober 😜) and overall just accepting the whole process and what it entails! And guess what? Weight and body... practically the same in both pregnancies. Comfort level? Way up this time! Happiness? Enjoy all aspects of life 🙃.     Full Upper Body Workout 💪🏼 Kept it simple & did a superset for each muscle group. - - - - Assisted Pullups x AMRAP Bent over DB row (not shown) x 10-12 • Flat DB chest flyes x 10-12 Pushups x AMRAP • Seated Arnold press x 8-10 Leaning cable lateral raise (cable is running between the legs opposed to in front of or behind) x 10-12 • EZ bar concentration curls (you can do single arm with a DB using an incline bench if you don’t have the apparatus for this) x 8-10 Cross body DB hammer curls x 10-12 ES • Cable rope tricep pressdowns (starting point for every rep should be 90° with your elbows, no higher) x 8-10 Single arm DB tricep kickbacks (turning palm up to the ceiling at the end of the movement) x 10-12 ES - - - - Each superset was down for 2-3 rounds.     “Always go with the choice that scares you the most, because that is the one that is going to help you grow.” - Caroline Myss 80 Day Obsession kicked off yesterday and I’m here with a big, fat, public accountability post. This program is longer than any I’ve committed to before. It’s intense and will require a lot of focus, self-discipline, and perseverance. It has me a bit nervous, honestly, and it’s totally awkward to post these photos, but the biggest potential for growth lies outside your comfort zone ✨ I may have had to delay my start a day or two while I allow myself to recover from this nasty bout of influenza, but I am so pumped to get started and see where this program takes my health & fitness. It won’t be easy. There will certainly be days that I will want to throw in the towel, but I’m ready for change and I know the quickest way to vibrant health + a sharp mind + a positive attitude is exercising my own personal strength & nutrition ⚡️ And everything is easier with accountability! 🤗👯‍♀️ I’ve got an amazing group of ladies to slay this program with, and by all means, please feel free to keep me in check!     Hi all! Not that you had a choice in the matter, but I appreciate you for appreciating the amazing content that surrounds me on my feed every day So much wisdom and so many people trying to make the world a better place  As a wise person said to me recently, It's humbling Anyway, one of my biggest struggles is that there are a few things that are deeply wired into me One of which being fully present as much as I can while with my family That's not to say it happens all the time, nor would I want it to, as I have accepted my introverted nature, needing much alone time to recharge But this past week was our 10th anniversary trip to Miami!
