“A quick story to set off my long weekend. Back in November I went to Tajikistan for a great week of teacher training and working with students from various Access camps and American Corners in the country. I was particularly struck by a group of teachers and students in Vahdat ) who were accomplishing so much with little more than chalk, a chalkboard and paper in a tiny classroom. They told me that they'd requested a projector in the past but nothing had ever come together.
When I got back to Kazakhstan I continued to think about these great teachers and students, and their needs, and I realized that the mini projector in my apartment was little more than a paperweight (my university has a great projector for me already). So, when I went to India in February, I gave my old projector to two of the Tajikistan Fellows who were also in attendance, and asked them to bring it to the Vahdat Access program.
Tahmina, the Public Affairs contact at the embassy in Tajikistan, just sent me this photo. I guess the projector has completely changed this classroom, and offered entirely new possibilities for these teachers and students. They're going to send me a video soon. My heart is just filled with joy right now. Thanks to Lynette and Jane, our wonderful Fellows in Tajikistan, for helping make this possible, and thanks most of all to the brilliant teachers and students of the Vahdat Access school. You're in my heart, as are all the wonderful people I had the privilege to meet in @elprograms” -from English Language Fellow @exchangeourworld @usembassydushanbe #usinkz #travel #teachersofinstagram #teachabroad #вахдат #lifeofafellow #education #fellowfriday #exchangeourworld #classroom #esl #tesol #teacher #tajikistan
